Julie in New Zealand, Lang Ling in China records the memoirs of two professional working women. Julie, a consultant social anthropologist, met Lang Ling, a university lecturer in economics, while working together in northern China. The opening up of China and work agreements between New Zealand and China made their meeting possible.
Julie and Lang Ling, of similar age, recall the influences on their lives through childhood in the post World War II era, family, education, community, marriage and work life.
Their backgrounds and upbringing are hugely different, yet there is a similarity in work and relationships between the authors.
